Cooking Oil
American Heart Association
You really can’t cook much without cooking oil or lard. They may not last long, but even if your oil goes rancid, you can still use it as fuel. Canned butter is also good to have, it tastes better. But there are a variety of oils and lard to choose from. Olive oil, canola oil, corn oil, and coconut oil. Coconut oil lasts longer (up to 2 years), and provides fast energy. It is very heat stable and is slow to oxidize. Much better than vegetable shortening. So stock up, just don’t overdo it and hoard, remember it does not keep for long, except for coconut oil.
