A Ureteroscopy is when a doctor uses a ureteroscope, which is a thin lighted tube that has a camera at the end, to examine a person’s urinary tract. The ureteroscope is placed within the urethra and passed into the bladder then into the ureter to search for the stones. Once the stones are found, they can either grab the stone to pull it out, or break it into tiny pieces so that it can be passed through the urine later on. This procedure is also done under an anesthetic, either local or general depending on the discussion with the doctor.
