Not many know that the banks are not the real lenders for a home mortgage in most cases. They act as a loan servicer, and the actual investor is either the US government through Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, VA, FHA, or by private investors through mortgage-backed securities. The banks are the face of the collateral loans, so the general public refer to them as the lenders. And most likely the ones you will be dealing with for your loan. Whatever the case may be, have a good relationship with the bank. It always pays to be cordial and courteous, especially since you are the one in need. How difficult could that be?
