So what is a mortgage broker? The broker is basically the matchmaker between the borrower and the lender. He is the go-between in the process. They don’t always work for the lender in fact, they may work with a dozen different mortgage companies. It works better for them, as well as for you. They interview borrowers to find out what kind of loan they need, and what their qualifications are, in terms of credit score, amount of down payment, etc. Then they shop around for different lenders to see what they can offer in interest rates and loan terms.
