The mortgage lender may have a rough idea since they study the market, but cannot tell for sure. So if the lender quotes you a rate which you believe is a good one, pay to lock it in place. Make sure it is in writing, don’t just assume it is locked. Once locked it will remain in place. Also check if the lender is locking it for 30 or 60 days. Knowing this will benefit you.
