Anyone who’s familiar with comedies knows who the true godfather is, and that’s Chaplin himself. He starred in silent films such as The Tramp where he plays the mustached man with a bowler hat and a cane. Back in the day, audio wasn’t available on films. However, Chaplin managed to make it interesting. People flocked to the movie theaters when he starred in a movie. Being small may have helped him with comedic timing, but you have to give him credit for what he did and for the doors he’s opened to comedians generations after.
