Don’t Believe The Great Park Is Really Great

Unfortunately names can be deceiving, the Great Park is really just an abandoned Marine Corps air station that remains pitifully underdeveloped. It is located in Irvine, and the park comprises just about 29% of the former air station’s property. It has some attractions and activities centering around fitness, agriculture, and the arts. It boasts of a soccer stadium, 24 additional soccer fields, 4 basketball courts, 25 tennis courts, 2 sand-volleyball courts 2 softball and baseball fields, a fitness complex, and a kids playground. Maybe the only real attraction is to see the whole of Irvine through a giant orange helium balloon ride. It was the first attraction to open at the park in 2007. It can fit about 25 people and raise them to a height of 500 feet for a panoramic view of the county. Nothing great really…but if it tickles your fancy, by all means do drop by.
