Don’t Call Orange County “The OC”

Actually no Orange County resident calls it “The OC”. It is not LA either, or North San Diego. Locals take offense to being considered a collective suburb of either larger city. So avoid arguments by knowing where you are, and not insulting the locals. Why lots of people decide to “shortcut” the name of a place is a wonder. Maybe, it makes them look and sound “cool” and in-the-know when they do. Calling Orange County the OC will never be as accepted as calling Los Angeles LA, or New York City NYC. It just is not proper. So, try not to look and sound like a try-hard, you will just get on the residents’ nerves.
