9. Use Citronella Where You Can

Another smell that most humans like but gnats can’t stand is Citronella. You can use it as a spray or actually have citronella plants all around your house in order to keep the gnats away. If you prefer a spray, just take 2 cups of water, 2 spoonful’s of citronella oil and another 3 to 6 drops of dish washing soap. Mix it together and spray it where gnats normally converge and breed to keep them away. If you prefer the actual plants, then take some potted citronella and place it all around your house, especially near trash cans or in the kitchen to keep gnats away.
