Gnats normally appear in the warmer months, when the weather tends to be more hot, sticky, humid and moist. Not only do certain areas around the house have more moisture during these times, but food – more so fruit – rots much quicker, and before people remember to check their leftovers, trashcans, and fruit bowls. Gnats can come inside the house when looking for places to reproduce, lay eggs and basically breed wherever they can.
