Evel Knievel, the most famous and iconic stunt performer, popularized the saying: “bones heal, pain is temporary, and chicks dig scars.” This ultimate daredevil led his life with the mantra of “go big, or go home.” As haphazardly as Knievel chose to live his life, by the end of 1975, he had suffered 433 bone fractures; making that one time you broke your wrist falling off your bike a walk in the park.
This line has made us learn to embrace our scars and to challenge the beauty status quo. Although this doesn’t factor in with everyone as some have obtained their scars other than childhood accidents, but from genuinely traumatic experiences they don’t wish upon anyone. It could also be a birthmark you are born with, or physical scars that affect your self-esteem.
Instead of undergoing tedious and painful operations to remove these scars or significant memories in our past, some people have chosen another way to mark these scars and turn them into something positive, which they chose themselves.
