Corona Extra

Penn Live

This beer variety is a pale lager produced by Mexican brewery Cerveceria Modelo. Corona Extra is commonly served with a wedge of lime or lemon in the neck of the bottle to add sharpness and flavor. This Mexican-born lager named from the sun’s corona, started domestic distribution in 1925 and began its debut in the U.S. market in 1981. The beer has since skyrocketed to the No. 1 beer import in America. It is a refreshing and laid-back brew that makes drinkers long for a day in the beach. Nonetheless, it contains GMO corn syrup which is derived from genetically modified corn. It also has Propylene Glycol, a controversial synthetic chemical found in anti-freeze substances for its characteristic of absorbing water. Levity aside, that is simply intoxicating.
