This variety of beer is an American lager beer sold by Pabst Brewing Company that was established in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the year 1844. This lager beer is beloved by hipsters everywhere, from 1882 to 1916, the brewing company actually tied blue ribbons around the neck of bottles to flaunt it many awards. This tradition was brought back for a short period in the 1950s as a promotion and has since been phased out completely. The beer continues to win awards, almost 200 years after its inception. In 2015, Pabst Blue Ribbon won the “best large brewing company of the year” at the Great American Beer Festival.
