Gerard Butler has struggled with alcohol and substance abuse at one point in his life, he is a fun loving Scot after all, but he’s been sober for over 20 years since. Butler shared, “I don’t miss it. Now it’s as if I never had a drink in my life. At one point, I could never have conceived going out and not drinking but, as time goes on, you lost the urge and the insecurity that often makes people drink in the first place.” Butler made news though when he entered rehab for abusing painkillers after getting injured on set. He claims that it wasn’t an actual addiction, but he was doing what he could so he could stop using them at all. He explains, “It was more about becoming a mental warrior and not letting pain bother you.”
