Robert Downey Jr. sure has definitely had his ups and downs when dealing with sobriety. Downey first got into drugs because his very own father, Robert Downey Sr. made him smoke weed when he was just 8 years old. By the time 1996 rolled around, Downey Jr. was heavy into cocaine and alcohol, and ended up getting arrested for both, while in possession of a handgun and while speeding in a car. Eventually, he ended up in jail in 2001, and would somehow find his way to sobriety. Thankfully, he’s been able to remain clean and sober for over a decade, sharing, “I think of myself as someone who has no desire, use for or conscious memory of that life. And yet I don’t shut the door on it, and I don’t pretend it didn’t happen.”
