The 60s and 70s saw women empowerment in a way the world had never seen before. After centuries of being told what to wear and how to wear it, they finally decided to lead the way in modern-day feminism and chose not to dress in the way that society expected them to. By 1968, women began what was known as the “anti-bra” movement, held right outside of where the Miss America Pageant happened to be going on that year. Not only did they not wear bras, but they even burned them, as well as corsets, and even mops because according to them, they “enforced femininity.”
