As for Rieper’s attorney, he expressed disappointment over the outcome of the trial. He believed that the whole thing focused on Rieper’s inefficiency to deliver the necessary documents when they should have looked into why Gabriel died in the first place. It was because the biological father was an irresponsible adult and he was never meant to raise a child. The missing paperwork was only secondary to the actual cause. The baby died because of an act of an irresponsible father. That was it. As for the McFarlands, they said that they will continue to fight for what they believe is right. It all boiled down to where the baby ended up and to what could have been if proper documentation had been made. What would happen to the other children in the system? Will parents that aren’t ready be able to get them back? If this is the case, then Gabriel may definitely be one of the many victims of justice. Hence, the trial had been a must for them.
