It was once reported that Rosie O’Donnell had planned on coming out as gay to the public then years earlier that she did. However, a major magazine editor stopped her big reveal in a 1992 article. This hugely popular comedian and veteran talk show host has been in lime light for the many controversies she is involved with. She once quipped that, “Being gay was never the hardest part.” She added, “I’m here today because I am gay and because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility.” While O’Donnell says she came out in 1992 during an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine, the disclosure was edited out and never ran on print.
