The star of “Inception” has been in the public eye since “Juno” made her an overnight sensation at 20 years old. Ellen publicly came out in 2014, delivering a powerful speech at the Human Rights Campaign benefiting LGBT youth. “I’m here today because I am gay,” she announced. “I am tired of hiding and I am tired of lying by omission.” As such, Ellen has become one of Hollywood’s most outspoken gay actors. She expressed, “I suffered for years because I was scared to be out…And I’m standing here today, with all of you on the other side of all that pain.” Her out-ness was a liberating experience that has sparked more conversation about the community especially with same-sex marriage.
