Way Cool Watering

CBC

Watering your plants can be a bit of a time suck. Also, you can’t always be sure that you’re giving the exact right amount of water that your plants need. Overwatering can produce root rot, and underwatering can result in a wilted, parched plant who is gasping for life. This is especially true when you leave town for a few days. A cool hack to ensure your green buddies are still pretty much alive when you get back from your trip to the lake is to drill small holes in a plastic soda bottle, stuff an old sock in, and fill it up with water. The excess water will drop out, and the sock will stay moist, allowing for the plants, soil, and roots to leech out what water is needed for them to stay alive. Simply half-bury your wet sock bottle in the pot with the plant you want to keep alive, and rest assured that it will be okay for a least a couple of days.
