Keep your hands to yourself.
If you’re suffering from Strep Throat, it would be best to keep away from touching food that isn’t meant for you. Since Strep Throat is a highly-contagious disease, transferring the illness through contaminated food is possible.
How can food become contaminated?
Droplets of mouth fluids containing Streptococci can land and remain on the surface of a sick person’s hands. This happens when a person uses his bare palms to cover his mouth when coughing or sneezing. Imagine, if you were that person, and you touched food while preparing meals for others, the likelihood of you infecting them would be great.
While proper hand washing might prevent the transmission of the disease, it is better to leave the task of preparing food to others, just for the duration of your illness.
