If you’ve ever watched the Disney classic Peter Pan, then you’ll know that the Saint Bernard breed was showcased as the children’s ‘nanny’ in the movie. That’s because this dog that originated from the Swiss Alps is as patient and steady as it is powerful and muscular. Moreover, they can also be incredibly calm, for as long as they are trained, and are happy enough to sit and watch children play rather than join in the fun themselves. They prefer to sit on the sidelines and take guard than to do anything that involves more than taking a few steps up and down the hill.
