This dog was bred to hunt hare in England and France. They are skilled at tracking scents and do not get distracted when they are. They are known to be pack leaders and are very independent thinkers. Also stubborn and aloof, but gentle and loyal. Training a Basset Hound requires a lot of patience, and the trainer must assert authority.
