This was bred as a Russian hunting dog. As a domineering pack dog, this breed may take on the Alpha role so authority must be clearly established. They love to jump, chew, and dig which must be addressed early in the training. Trained well, this dog is a perfect family companion. They may not be very aggressive, but when they feel threatened, can be vicious. They are very smart, ad will try to get their way most of the time. Be stern, but not physical. Unless you want the aggression to come out.
