Queen Elizabeth’s Postwar Wedding Dress

Vogue

Queen Elizabeth II is more known for her handbags, but she did famously save up ration cards after the end of the second world war to purchase the material for her wedding dress. Her gown was made of ivory duchess satin and decorated with 10,000 white pearls, silver thread, and tulle embroidery. Her bridal gown also included a fifteen-foot patterned full cour train attached at the shoulders, and a silk tulle veil held in place by a tiara lent by her mother.
