Drink plenty of water or low-fructose or fructose-free beverages because this will help you remove uric acid from your blood. Limit your caffeine intake though, and switch to non-fat or low-fat dairy drinks, such as skim milk and yogurt. While full-fat dairy products like whole milk, ice cream, and butter are discouraged if you have gout, some studies show that people who drink low-fat milk have lower levels of uric acid compared to those who do not.
You can also reduce your uric acid levels by including plenty of fruits and vegetables with zero or low purine content in your diet. These include apples, avocados, kiwi, peaches, pears, pineapples, raspberries, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, radish, and rhubarb. Eating cherries or drinking cherry juice may also lower your levels of uric acid, reducing your risk of gout attacks. Other low-purine options include olives, potatoes, bread, pasta, rice, and grains, plus cheese, creams, and eggs (just bear in mind the fat content of dairy products).
