When asked about the details about what had truly gone on in the beginning of his imprisonment, Gregory Jr. said, “He [his dad] invited me and my brother Sammy to Atlanta. Sammy was allowed to go home but she [stepmother Samantha Joy Davis] would not let me go home.” Apparently, Gregory Sr. and Samantha had never gotten married, but they did have an informal deal where they had to pay for “child maintenance.” The couple thought that if they just kept Gregory Jr. with them, they could save on these necessary payments.
