The family fortune began with Trump’s grandfather Frederick, who amassed wealth by operating restaurants and boarding houses in the boomtowns of Seattle, and Klondike, Canada.  His father’s real estate company grew the fortune that by the time Donald Trump was 27, he owned around 14,000 apartments. His inheritance alone made him a billionaire. It is not really a fairytale rags to riches story. Donald Trump’s mother came from poor Scotish immigrants though. But surely, Donald Trump’s children will inherit a sizeable fortune. Hopefully they continue the family’s good fortune.
