Spicy food can cause a number of issues in the body, especially when it comes to the stomach. Spices come from a number of things but more often than not, spicy food is made using chili, which has capsaicin. Capsaicin happens to be a chemical compound in chilis that keeps animals from eating them as a defense, but when they are eaten by people, this active ingredient ends up irritating the nerves, which then causes hiccups.
