While stress, nervousness and being over excited can cause many health issues, it can also surprisingly cause hiccups. At times when emotions are heightened, people tend to swallow more often, which then means that they take in more air overall. Because of this, hiccups can be triggered when the nerves of the diaphragm are triggered as well. Plus being stressed or overly nervous or excited isn’t healthy in the first place, finding ways to control these issues will result in both less chances of hiccups, as well as better overall mental health.
