6. Scarlet Rash

There are times that patients develop a bright red discoloration of the skin, usually resulting from a complicated case of Strep throat infection. This is called a scarlet rash.

Scarlet rash is caused by a severe immune reaction of the body to the toxins released by the Streptococcus bacteria. Immune factors trigger patchy red spots to appear, almost always covering large areas of a patient’s body.
