Growing up in a poor neighborhood and having to face segregation, David Steward is an epitome of hard work and dedication and has come a long way, from working as a sales representative for the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company and Federal Express, to becoming the second-richest black man in America today, donating around $1.3 million last year to the University of Missouri-St. Louis to create the David and Thelma Steward Institute for Jazz Studies. The racetrack in St. Louis, which holds NASCAR and IndyCar racing, has been renamed as the World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.
