Don’t think that you can find the mail in those mailbox-looking or birdhouse-looking boxes in front of the homes of French Polynesian or Tahitian residents as those are not exactly for mail, but for their daily baguettes, French bread, or coconut croissant delivered to them every morning. They may not come in standard shapes, as others are made to accommodate bigger ones or made sure that the items are shielded from the elements. Although it’s not like what it once was, when a grocery car would drive by and honk to signal the delivery, you will still find the “mailboxes” outside of their homes. How about the actual mail? Well, the residents will have to go to a P.O. box in town to get them.
