Don’t Expect Everyone To Speak English

Source: https://welcome-tahiti.com

Although English is widely spoken, this can only be expected in areas that are frequented by tourists as the official language in Bora Bora is French, followed by Tahitian. You may have to augment your communication with sign language if you venture beyond these tourist spots, unless of course you know how to speak French, which will be very helpful for you and those that you will interact with. Otherwise expect to hear Tahitian as it is the local language. It would do you well if you know some common courtesies in the local language such as ia ora na (hello) or mauruuru (thank you).
