If you do decide to rent a vehicle during your stay on the island, make sure to pay full attention and never take your eyes off the road as the roads on the main island are quite narrow and accidents do happen. There’s also the possibility of drunk drivers going fast, as well as pedestrians and children who are not that used to vehicle traffic, especially in the more remote areas. There’s also a chance of running into dogs and chickens, not to mention those driving bicycles and scooters at night with no light.
