Never Drink Water On Tap

Unlike many other areas around the world, drinking tap water in the Dominican Republic is not okay. Even when eating in certain restaurants, it will be safer to order bottled water rather than asking for house water because you never know where the water actually comes from. Be sure that the bottle you get also has a sealed cap and always ask if the ice is purified too before drinking it. If you aren’t careful, you may just find yourself bent over a toilet for the remainder of your trip.
