Known for her role as one of the most beloved characters in the show, Dr. Callie Torres. From dealing with the sudden car accident death of her ex-husband to surviving her own car crash while pregnant, there’s a long list of all the tragedies Callie goes through in Grey’s. But what she’s best remembered for is her journey of self discovery and for being a staple in the LGBT+ community. Appearing in 239 episodes over 11 seasons, she’s the longest running LGBT+ character in television history. The realization of her bisexuality and later marriage to Dr. Arizona Robbins was controversial at the time but was generally well received and appreciated especially in her community. Sara Ramirez herself later came out as a bisexual herself in 2016 and is well known in the activism world being awarded with the Ally for Equality Award by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation in 2015 for her campaigns for LGBT+ rights. While no longer being on the show, Shonda Rhimes has revealed that she’s more than open to having her come back and reprise her role as Callie Torres but timing wasn’t right at the time since she was already part of a different show, Madame Secretary. While we’re unsure if we’ll see more of Callie in the future, Sara Ramirez has a pretty good life with her estimated net worth of $5 million.
