Opposite from Kate Walsh, Caterina Scorsone comes into Grey’s Anatomy after starring on Private Practice from season 3 until it’s last season. Playing the role of Derek Shepherd’s sister, Amelia Shepherd was introduced with a pretty compelling storyline about addiction which she intensely struggled with for a while. The growth of her character is something fans love about her as well as her strong sisterly bond with Meredith Grey and Maggie Pierce. Though being one of the current pillars of the show, Caterina doesn’t let anything get in the way of being a mother to her 3 beautiful children. Her 3rd pregnancy was even written into her character’s storyline to work with her actually being pregnant. She’s also a big advocate of down syndrome after her second child was born with it. She said “If my job isn’t to equip her to compete or dominate socially, educationally or physically or economically — if I’m not just supposed to be helping her do that, what is a mother, what is my job?” Her salary from Grey’s is known to be significantly lower than her co-stars with her estimated net worth coming in at $2 million.
