2. America Took Notice

It was indeed a weekend that shaped the image of a “Woodstock Generation” and America took notice. Images such as this would echo, appeal and provoke for generations to come. The pivotal festival of “peace and music” remains an inspiring moment of counterculture community and youthful freethinking. Among the musical acts that played were Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Nash and Young among other artists. To many who have experienced Woodstock, they went or the music and found something more. They found the importance of camaraderie. According to Karen Brenda, who was 17 years old at that time, she recalls feeling part of “a generation that felt like nothing could stop us. Peace. Love, The whole thing.”
