Suffering her fifth concussion before the age of 15 prevented Robin Bone from pursuing her passion as a gymnast but another opportunity arose when she was asked to be a pole vaulter while trying out for her high school track & field team. She was cleared to compete under one condition: she must wear a helmet when competing. The “vaulter with a helmet,” as she was called, went on to break records and win championships, making it to the Canadian national team.
