When in Taiwan, it is normal to see men eating beetle nuts and spitting out their saliva because of it. It may not be exactly the nicest thing to witness, but it’s just one of the many habits that men have been indulging in for years. But when it comes to anything else, it is actually considered rude to spit. Never spit on the street, or anywhere else in public for that matter. And if you must, use something to do it and try to be as discreet as possible.
