In Taiwan, it is considered customary to ask someone “Have you eaten?” even if you just met, and they will ask you this over and over again. But whatever you do, don’t get annoyed at this constant questioning. In Taiwan, it is considered good manners to offer food to one another especially since food is such a huge part of their culture. Don’t worry, it’s okay to decline an invite to eat, especially if you really aren’t hungry.
