If you find that you are in a strange situation that normally calls for anger or embarrassment, a Taiwanese person will probably just smile. No, they aren’t being rude or trying to be disrespectful, but they just tend to smile when they are in an uncomfortable situation. Never get insulted in this type of situation and just know, that their smile is just them feeling awkward and not knowing how else to react.
