Because it is not, actually. It has some beaches but they don’t compare to those of Thailand or the Philippines. People who say Vietnam is known for their beaches are simply lying to you or ignorant. Some beaches are also dangerous for swimmers. Strong undertows can drown even the strongest swimmers. There are nice beach towns but the beach is not the highlight. There is much more to see and do anyway. If you love seafood, the quaint beach towns will have a variety to offer.
