Amsterdam is the capital and most populous city of the Netherlands. It is often referred to as the “Venice of the North” due to its numerous canals similar to Venice. Many of the world’s largest companies are based in Amsterdam or have their regional headquarters there, like Netflix, Tesla, and Uber. But this is not what makes the city famous. It is known for its red light district (prostitution is legal there), and the many cannabis coffeeshops. It is also well known for its vibrant nightlife and festival activity.
