But Chevrolet took a gamble with the new Corvette by replacing its classic front-engined, rear-wheel-drive format in favor of mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive layout. This puts the eighth generation American model into direct competition with Europe’s best sports vehicles. The mid-mounted naturally aspirated 6.2 liter LT2 V8 gasoline engine produces 495bhp and 637Nm of torque. It has an eighth-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox that feeds power to the rear wheels. It can do 0-60mph in under 3 seconds. And good news for Brits, the company said it will also have a right-hand drive option for the first time.
