In the 1950’s, Detroit was home to more than 1.8 million folks. Considering the US population then, that’s a lot of folks huddled in one state. Now, it’s shrunk down to a measly 600,000, a big leap to what it was. What happened? Since the auto industry isn’t doing well now as it was then, the unemployment rate has been in its all-time high. Although the city has been trying to rehabilitate itself, some residents still prefer to move out and start a life elsewhere.
