After the success of fairy tales like Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty, it took Disney years before they added to their collection of princesses. Then, they opted to remake The Little Mermaid and change the ending into a happy one. Those who read Hans Christian Anderson’s original story were ecstatic because finally, the mermaid will get the ending she badly deserved. Its release was on 1989 and the VHS tapes sold like candy in the market. With Alan Menken’s amazing song writing coupled with a memorable cast of characters, the black diamond edition (as usual) can be sold for around $37,500. The price goes higher for an unopened copy.
