Anglogold Ashanti is the sixth-largest holding of Paulson & Co, despite a 38% reduction of its stake in Q2. With a high of $29.58 and a low of $16 for AU during the quarter, the offload likely generated proceeds of $100 million at the midpoint, representing approximately 3.2% of its $3.1 billion portfolio. Paulson & Co first bought into AU in Q1 2009 and has traded in and out of it for the past eleven years, paying an average of $34.07 per share. AU shares are up more than 30% YTD, though they have fallen significantly over the last month following a natural cooling towards gold.
