Before this sequel was ever made, fans were clamoring for a new Jedi hero. Not everyone expected the new hero to be a woman, but Daisy Ridley did the role justice. She was the heroine who was beloved by fans of the series. The character she played was intended to be a badass Jedi warrior whom kids could admire, she did so much for the role.
